Commonwealth Connections Academy celebrates students’ successes as cyberschools become more mainstream

Three years ago, Commonwealth Connections Academy held its first commencement in Harrisburg — and graduated around 30 students.

On Monday, the school held its third commencement ceremony, one of four it will hold this week across the state. It conferred diplomas on 97 students in Harrisburg, and plans to graduate a total of 365 seniors across the state.

Lucas and the several dozen other students who spent the afternoon at Nixon County Park in Springfield Township are all enrolled in Commonwealth Connections Academy, a cyber charter school.

They were doing hands-on science experiments and interacting face-to-face with other students with nary a laptop around.
